Jamabandi
जमाबंदी
The record of rights maintained for each village — in Rajasthan, अधिकार अभिलेख. It states, for each holding, the khata number, the khasra numbers within it, the holders and their shares, the class of tenant, the area, the class of land, the revenue assessed, and — in the remarks column — the mortgages, court orders, restrictions and mutation references that decide whether a parcel can actually be sold. It is a record, not a title deed: it creates a presumption that better evidence can displace.
The village record of rights, recording holders, holdings, class, area, revenue and liabilities.

Kharif
खरीफ़
The monsoon cropping season, sown with the rains and harvested afterwards. It is one of the two seasons for which the Patwari records girdawari, the other being rabi, so a parcel generates two crop entries a year. Reading several seasons of kharif and rabi entries together gives a free agronomic history of a parcel — what the land and its water actually support, and when that changed.
The monsoon cropping season.
Khasra
खसरा
The number identifying an individual field or plot within a village, and the only reliable identifier a parcel has. Names are spelt several ways and shared by cousins, areas are quoted in whichever bigha suits the speaker, and boundaries are described by reference to neighbours who sold up years ago. The khasra number ties the parcel to the map, the jamabandi, the mutation register, the deed and any court record. Sub-numbers such as 219/2 denote subdivisions and describe a different parcel from the parent number.
The individual field or plot number. The unit by which land is identified for every purpose.

Khatedari
खातेदारी
The principal class of tenancy in agricultural land in Rajasthan under the Rajasthan Tenancy Act, 1955. It is heritable and transferable and behaves like ownership for most practical purposes, but it is a statutory right, which means the statute also bounds it — through restrictions on certain transfers, ceiling limits, allotment conditions, and the requirement of conversion before any non-agricultural use.
